Deaf Tennis Open Day at Lansdown Club, Bath

Deaf people of all ages are invited to try out tennis for free at Lansdown Tennis Club this October.

Dan Tunstall, Head of Junior Coaching at the club, is launching a series of open days specially for deaf children and grown-ups who’d like to have a go at tennis.

The first open day will be on Saturday 25th October 2014 from 3pm to 4.30pm. The free session is open to deaf people of all ages and abilities.

Born profoundly deaf, Dan was a member of the GB National Deaf Tennis Team for 20 years, competing worldwide and winning two Deaflympics medals.

“Deaf tennis has changed my life and I have been to amazing places all over the world,” he says. “The open day is a great opportunity to try out your tennis skills and socialise with others at the club.”

There’ll be a chance for aspiring deaf tennis players to have a go at three different activities on court: cardio tennis, ball machine and speed of serve. Rackets and balls will be provided. Plus there’ll be a break at the clubhouse where participants can socialise with others.

Dan hopes to develop regular deaf tennis sessions at the club, and will use the first open day to find out more about people’s interests and availability.

You can come to the club any time between 3pm and 4.30pm on the day. Parking is free.

Dear Players,

Just a quick update with some new events at tt tennis.

Beechen Cliff Tennis Programme

tt tennis and Beechen Cliff School have teamed up to create a new coaching programme based at the school. The programme starts this Easter holiday and continues into the summer term with Mini, Junior and Adult coaching being offered.  The programme aims to support the students of the school but is also open to the community as well, so anyone can get involved.

Lansdown Mini tour

The winter series concluded on Sun 9th March with players and parents enjoying the mini heat wave! Thank you to everyone who played and hopefully you are getting a lot out of this fun competition. A quick heads up that the summer series of the tour starts on 30th March, there will be some more information soon with the remaining 3 dates.
